The major runway project at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (ENWIA) involves the complete removal and reconstruction of the existing main runway. Flatiron is serving as the general contractor for the current project, while Terus was the general contractor for the secondary runway project in 2022.
The main runway is scheduled to be put back into service by the end of 2025, with it being functional during the winter of 2024/2025.
Terus is responsible for completing the paving of the runway, taxiway, and apron, totaling at least 223,540.90 m². The project requires a total of 64,776 tonnes of asphalt, with 29,328 tonnes needed in 2024 and 35,448 tonnes in 2025.
