As part of their comprehensive plan for water management in the Elk Valley, Teck Resources built a water treatment facility to reduce the concentrations of naturally occurring selenium in Line Creek and West Line Creek at the Line Creek (LCO) coal mine.

Interoute Construction supplied the ready mix concrete for the construction of the new treatment facility and water diversion structures from our concrete batch plants in Fernie and Elkford. This job required over 13,000 m3 of concrete delivered over three years.

The LCO selenium treatment project was completed on a fast and challenging construction schedule—many small pours along with large pours at infrequent intervals—in a remote area of BC. Flexibility and responsiveness was critical to keeping the project on schedule, but Interoute got the job done. A major key to our success was  Interoute’s ability to bring in equipment and staff from our other ready mix operations in the East Kooteneys to handle the large pours.
