The Kicking Horse Canyon Phase 4 was a Design-Build realignment and upgrade of 4.8 km of the Trans-Canada Highway 1, expanding it from a two-lane to a four-lane highway. The project involved the realignment of 13 curves, construction of 4 new bridges, 9 new viaducts, and 4 retaining walls. It also included 4 major rock cuts requiring the installation of over 600 fully cased cast-in-place (CIP) piles, each up to 62 meters in length, totaling 12,600 meters, to support various structures. Approximately 3.5 km (75%) of the new alignment is either on or supported by structures.
Ready-Mix concrete: Contract Value: $14,200,000.00, with a total volume of 25,710 m³.
Asphalt Paving: Contract Value: $5,100,000.00, with a total volume of 30,318 tonnes.
Aggregate Crushing: Contract Value $1,900,000.00, with a total volume of 267,000 tonnes.
